Week One

Gary vs Jarrett

Jarrett shooting against Gary Quesenberry.

Jarrett arrived for Top Shot along with the other fifteen contestants. Here, Colby Donaldson, the host of the competition, stated that the placement of each contestant would be determined by a Preliminary Challenge. In pairs, the contestants would shoot head-to-head using the Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum at three targets. Whichever of the pair could hit all of the targets before the other would be victorious and become a member of the Blue Team, while the unvictorious joined the Red Team. After the first pair had competed, Colby called Jarrett and Gary Quesenberry to shoot. Both men hit the first target simultaneously. However, Jarrett managed to hit the second and third targets before Gary hit his second target. This resulted in Jarrett's victory and his spot on the Blue Team. After the remaining pairs competed, Colby allowed the contestants to head to the house where they would be living in during the competition. However, the Red Team arrived here first, claiming all of the bottom bunks of the bed, giving the members of the Blue Team a very limited choice on where they would sleep.

The following day, the contestants arrived at the Shooting Range to participate in the first Team Challenge. Here, they noticed that there were platforms set up with targets in the distance. After all of the contestants got situated, Colby explained that for the challenge, two contestants at a time would climb onto the four platforms for their team and destroy a target each with the Larue Tactical OBR. He then stated that they would not be climbing the ladders built onto the platforms, but sixteen foot poles which would need to be carried to each station. Before participating in the challenge, the Blue Team decided the shooting order, choosing Jarrett and Sara Ahrens for the third platform. Jarrett got onto the platform after Sara, and she began shooting. On her fifth round, she was able to hit her target, which allowed the behind Red Team to catch up. After a few misses, Jarrett had to reload the Larue. However, on his first shot after reloading the weapon, Jarrett was able to hit his target. At the final station, after temporarily losing their lead to the Red Team, Blue Team regained their ground. Alex Charvat, the last shooter for Blue Team was able to hit his target before Chris Collins, the last shooter for Red Team, was able to begin firing at his target, resulting in their victory.

After the contestants returned to the house, the Red Team held a meeting while the Blue Team went to the kitchen. Here, Dustin Ellermann read some encouraging verses from the bible, and concluded this by saying, "sucks to be red", which was humorous to many Blue Team members. Later, the Red Team headed to the Nomination Range to vote two people into the Elimination Challenge. When they returned, it was announced that either Amanda Hardin or Mark Schneider would be eliminated. The following day, the Red Team departed again to witness the Elimination Challenge.
